The Rijnland District Water Control Board protects 1.3 million people in North- and South Holland
from water damage from the sea, rivers and precipitation. Rijnland ensures that dikes are in good
condition, maintains the water level and takes care for the dunes between Wassenaar and Ijmuiden.
Also the quality of the surface water is seen to by purifying more than 130 billion liters of wastewater
and enforce the surface water pollution law. We do this with about 700 colleagues. Rijnland connects
the old with the new: it’s the oldest water board in the Netherlands, with an environmental friendly
and energy efficient office where we work in a modern way.
